Abiotic Factor The Office Sector Walkthrough: Your Complete Step by Step Guide

The GATE Cascade Research Facility was supposed to be the pinnacle of scientific achievement, not a tomb. Now, trapped after a catastrophic containment failure, every sector is a new layer of the nightmare. If you’ve just escaped the initial chaos, you’ve likely found yourself staring down the eerily quiet and deceptively complex corporate hallways of the Office Sector. Don’t let the tidy cubicles and motivational posters fool you; this area is a sprawling maze of locked doors, new threats, and critical objectives.

This Abiotic Factor The Office Sector Walkthrough is your direct, no-nonsense guide to navigating this bureaucratic labyrinth, securing your escape route, and surviving to craft another day.

Gearing Up: What to Bring to the Office Sector

Before you even think about swiping a keycard, preparation is paramount. The Office Sector introduces tougher challenges than the introductory areas, and walking in unprepared is a recipe for a quick trip back to the cloning vat. Your primary goal here is to establish a solid foundation of tools, weapons, and resources.

Your first order of business should be crafting a basic melee weapon and some form of defense. A Pipe Club (1 Duct Tape, 1 Pipe) is a reliable early game choice for dealing blunt damage, which is particularly effective against the new robotic threats you’ll encounter. Pair this with a Plastic Shield (1 Cafeteria Tray, 1 Fabric Scrap, 2 Duct Tapes). Learning to block is not optional; it’s a core survival mechanic that will save your life against both biological and synthetic foes.

You’ll also be doing a lot of salvaging. Computers, printers, and office furniture are your new best friends. Break them down to gather essential crafting materials like Tech Scrap, Circuit Boards, and Plastic. A top priority should be crafting a powered Crafting Bench and several Storage Crates to keep your burgeoning inventory organized.

Entering the Breach: Your First Steps into the Office Sector

With your basic gear in hand, your journey begins by powering the main door out of the cafeteria. This requires crafting your first Energy Brick (1 Case Fan, 1 Circuit Board, 1 Power Supply, 1 Tech Scrap), introducing you to the core mechanic of powering locked doors. Once you step through, you’ll find yourself in the Plaza, the central hub of the Office Sector.

This area serves as a crossroads, connecting to the various wings of the floor. Your first encounter with a hostile Peccary, a boar-like creature, will likely happen here. Use your shield to block its charge, then counter-attack. After dealing with it, your immediate objective is to locate and speak with the security officer, who will set you on the main path toward escaping the sector.

The Grand Escape: The Main Quest Line

The Office Sector isn’t just a place; it’s a giant, multi-layered puzzle box. The main questline is designed to force you to explore, craft, and overcome a series of escalating challenges. Here’s the step-by-step breakdown.

Objective: Evacuate via the Manufacturing Sector

After speaking with the security officer, you’ll learn that the primary evacuation route is through the Manufacturing Sector. Following the signs will lead you to a blocked doorway and a dying worker named Grayson. He delivers the bad news: the path is blocked by a forklift, and to move it, you’ll need to find Power Cells. He mentions they were moved to the third floor, giving you your first major goal.

Objective: Find Someone Who Knows About the Power Cells

This is where the game truly opens up. The main elevator to the third floor is, predictably, out of order. You need to find an alternate route. The game provides two primary solutions to this environmental puzzle.

The most common path takes you toward the Reception area, where you’ll find a flooded, electrified office. The solution here involves some light platforming. You’ll need to break a window and carefully jump across desks and furniture to bypass the hazard. This leads you to a trapped scientist who, in gratitude, activates a nearby service elevator that goes to the third floor.

Alternatively, a less obvious secret elevator exists in the hallway leading to the blocked Manufacturing door. Finding this can be a shortcut, but both routes ultimately converge on the same problem: a locked door on the second floor that requires an Energy Brick to open. You’ll likely need to venture into the Data Farms on Floor 2 to smash more computers and gather the necessary components.

Energy Brick

Interlude: A Detour Through The Far Garden

Once you power the door and take the elevator up, you’ll encounter your first portal world, a mandatory trip into the Anteverse. This portal takes you to the Far Garden (Anteverse 2-A), a strange, linear alien environment.

Here, you’ll face a new and dangerous enemy: the Exor Monk. This foe teleports and fires powerful lightning attacks. The key to defeating it is constant lateral movement (strafing) to dodge its projectiles. Hitting it in the head while it’s charging its attack will interrupt it, giving you an opening. Defeating them yields Exor Hearts, and you can also gather Anteverse Wheat, a key ingredient for crafting healing syringes. Fight your way to the exit portal at the end of the area, which will deposit you on the previously inaccessible part of Floor 3.

Objective: Open Silo 3 to Retrieve the Power Cells

Now on the third floor, you must navigate the executive suites to find Silo 3. You’ll soon meet a scientist named Alice Mayfield, who explains that the Power Cells are located within Flathill, the portal world connected to Silo 3. However, the Silo door is locked by a Level 1 Keypad. This conversation, or alternatively, destroying a nearby Security Bot, will unlock the recipe for the Keypad Hacker.

The Final Test: Crafting the Keypad Hacker

This is the most complex crafting project in the Office Sector and the primary barrier to your progress. The game intentionally designs this quest to make you backtrack and master the entire zone. You’ll need to revisit areas like the Plaza, the Data Farms, and the Manufacturing entrance to gather a wide array of components.

To build the Level 1 Keypad Hacker, you need an LCD Screen, a Controller, and an Infrared Emitter. Each of these components must be crafted first, requiring sub-components like a Computation Brick, Glow in the dark Wood, and Screws. This, in turn, requires a massive amount of raw materials salvaged from office equipment. The Data Farms on Floor 2 are the best place to farm Circuit Boards, Tech Scrap, and Case Fans.

The most critical components, however, are the 3 Security Bot CPUs. You’ll need to hunt down and destroy Security Bots to get them. These robots patrol at night but can be found recharging at their stations during the day, making them easier targets. You can reliably find them in the Tram Plaza, near Grayson’s body at the Manufacturing entrance, and within the Data Farms. Once you’ve crafted the Keypad Hacker, it acts as a master key, allowing you to open numerous optional locked rooms filled with valuable loot throughout the entire sector.

The Foggy City: A Trip to Flathill

With the Keypad Hacker in hand, return to Silo 3 and open the door. The portal inside will transport you to Flathill, a vast, fog-drenched city reminiscent of Silent Hill. While there are enemies and loot here, your primary objective is to locate the Power Cells. After you grab them, you can exit through the portal, returning to the facility.

Power Cell

Objective: Use the Power Cells to Access Manufacturing

This is the final step. Take the Power Cells all the way back to the forklift blocking the entrance to the Manufacturing Sector. Install them, and the forklift will move, clearing the path. This completes the main questline for the Office Sector and, crucially, activates the Tram System, allowing for fast travel between the major zones of the facility.

The Office Sector is home to more than just disgruntled scientists. You need to know how to handle the local fauna and automated security.

Peccary / Pest

These are aggressive, boar-like creatures found in the hallways and larger rooms. They attack with simple, direct charges. A well-timed shield block will negate all damage and briefly stun them, leaving them wide open for a counter-attack with your Pipe Club or other blunt weapon. They are your most reliable source of early-game meat.

Security Bot

These are your first robotic threat. They patrol at night, scanning with a bright light. If they spot you, they fire energy projectiles. During the day, they are dormant at their charging stations. They are resistant to sharp damage but weak to blunt force. The best strategy is to attack them during the day. Use cover to approach and bash their central “eye” for critical hits. Destroying them is the only way to get the essential Security Bot CPUs.

Security Bot

Exor Monk

Found exclusively in the Far Garden portal world, these are tricky ranged enemies. They teleport frequently and charge up a powerful lightning attack. Do not try to fight them head-on. Strafe constantly to avoid their blasts and wait for an opening to rush in and strike. Hitting their head will interrupt their attack, which is vital for survival.

Optional Finds: Hidden Loot and Secrets

For the thorough explorer, the Office Sector is filled with high-value secrets that can give you a significant advantage.

The Early Anvil

An Anvil is required to build a Repair Bench, which is absolutely essential for maintaining your gear. You can find one very early. In the area behind the cafeteria, look for a vent. During the night, the fan inside stops spinning, allowing you to crawl through into the Flow Transit room where an Anvil is waiting.

High-Capacity Security Backpack

In the Data Farms on Floor 2, look for a blocked-off office with a blue door. You can climb over the railing and drop down onto a metal walkway behind this office. A Security Backpack with a generous 21 slots of inventory space can be found here.

The Cane Sword

A fantastic early-game weapon, the Cane Sword is fast and effective. It’s hidden in plain sight in the main Plaza. Look for a staircase and check the cane holder underneath it.

The Red Chair Secret

In one of the lab containment rooms, you’ll find an unassuming red chair. Interacting with this chair will teleport you to a secret portal world known as the “Poolrooms,” a classic creepypasta inspired level.
