Your First Stop: Meeting the Spam Master, G. Spamton

Before we can even think about getting the Keygen, we need to meet the man, the myth, the puppet himself: Spamton G. Spamton. If you’ve played through a good chunk of Chapter 2, you’ve likely already had a run in with him. He’s the glitchy, fast talking little white puppet who ambushes you in an alleyway, trying to sell you on the deal of a lifetime.

Meeting the Spam Master G. Spamton

His fight is more of a strange negotiation, and whether you choose to fight him or pay him, the outcome is the same: he points you toward his real business. To get the Keygen, we need to find his shop.

Finding the Shop in the Trash Zone

Spamton’s shop isn’t on the main drag of Cyber City. A guy like him operates from the fringes, from the places most people forget. He’s set up his business in the Trash Zone, the very first area you land in when you and Susie fall into the Cyber World.

Once you’ve progressed the story far enough to reach the Queen’s Mansion, you’ll unlock the ability to fast travel. Right near the entrance to the mansion, you’ll see a strange, pulsating red door. This is your ticket back to previously visited areas. Walk up to it, give it a knock, and choose the “Trash Zone” from the menu.

You’ll be instantly warped back to that familiar pile of digital junk. From where you land, you need to start walking left. Keep going. Walk past the ominous looking sentient trash can who might tell you a story about a “little funny guy.” Keep going until you hit what looks like a dead end.

Look closely at the back wall, amidst the fences and debris. You’ll see a dark, gaping hole. It doesn’t look like a doorway. It looks like a mistake, a tear in the fabric of the world. That’s your destination. It feels a bit spooky, but don’t worry. Muster up your courage and step inside.

Congratulations, you’ve found the strangest retail experience in the Dark World. Spamton’s shop is a riot of chaotic energy, flickering lights, and the man himself, hanging from his strings, ready to make a [Special Deal].

The Transaction: Securing the Keygen

Now that you’re in his shop, you can browse his… unique wares. Most of them are humorous but not particularly useful. What we’re here for is the main event. Interact with Spamton and navigate his bizarre dialogue menu. You’ll want to select the option that says something like ‘BUY MORE!!!’.

This will bring up his rotating list of items for sale. And right there, at the very top of the list, is your prize: the Keygen. But there’s a catch. This is Spamton’s world, and the price is never stable. The cost of the Keygen, displayed in his personal currency of “Kromer,” will be fluctuating wildly. One second it might be a reasonable 200 Kromer, the next it might be an insane 19,970 Kromer.

This is where a little patience pays off. Don’t just mash the buy button! Watch the price. Let it cycle up and down. You’re waiting for that perfect moment, that sweet spot when the price dips low. If you’re quick and a little bit lucky, you can snag the Keygen for a ridiculously cheap price. It’s a little mini-game in itself, a test of your nerve against the chaotic market of a madman.

Once you’ve bought it, the Keygen is yours. This strange, pixelated key will sit in your inventory, buzzing with potential. You’ve completed the first major step. But getting the Keygen is just the beginning. Now, we have to figure out what it unlocks.

Unlocking the Mystery: From Keygen to Basement

With the Keygen safely in your inventory, it’s time to leave Spamton to his business (for now) and head back to the Queen’s Mansion. Use the fast travel door again to zip back to the castle entrance.

Our destination is not on the main path. We’re heading for a secret that even the mansion’s residents don’t know about. You need to progress through the first floor of the mansion until you pass the area with the speeding traffic puzzle. Just past that road of chaos, you’ll enter a large, quiet room filled with statues of the Queen. They’re all posed like “The Thinker,” probably contemplating how to get more battery acid.

This room holds the next big secret. As you wander around, you might notice a little mouse-like Darkner with a cursor for a head. This is the Hacker. Pay close attention to him. As he paces back and forth, he’ll walk past a specific spot where his cursor icon momentarily changes into a little hand pointer, just like when you hover over a link on a computer.

Deltarune From Keygen to Basement

That’s your clue! He’s pointing out a hidden switch. Walk up to the spot he indicates, it’s near a large, ornate teacup structure on the right side of the room, and interact with the wall. You’ll hear a satisfying click. A low rumble will sound, and a brand new, previously hidden doorway will open up on the southern wall.

You’ve found the way. Head through this new opening. You’ll find a short hallway and another doorway. This leads to the mansion’s basement.

The Basement Quest: A Disk and a Deal

The basement is… creepy. The music changes. The atmosphere is heavy. It feels like you’re somewhere you’re not supposed to be. As you descend the stairs, you’ll see a glowing green lock on a thick set of chains. This is what the Keygen was for. Walk up to the lock and use the Keygen. The chains will vanish, granting you access to the deeper levels of the basement.

Now, things get a bit more involved. You’re about to embark on a short but crucial quest.

  1. Navigate the Corridors: Proceed through the dark hallways. You’ll eventually come to a path blocked by a crackling laser wall. You can’t get through here yet.
  2. Find the Switch: Take the path to the left. You’ll enter a room with a strange teacup ride. Hop in. The ride will take you on a short, slightly perilous journey through an obstacle course. Surviving it will allow you to reach a switch at the other end. Hit it to deactivate that laser wall.
  3. Discover the Machine: Head back to where the laser wall was and proceed down the now open path. You’ll enter a long, dark room. At the very end of this room, tucked away in the shadows, is a large, defunct robot covered in vines. It looks like it’s been abandoned for a very long time.
  4. Get the Empty Disk: Interact with this mysterious machine. You won’t get much of a reaction, but you will receive a key item: the EmptyDisk.

You now hold a piece of a puzzle you don’t yet understand. This disk is useless on its own. It needs to be filled. And there’s only one person in Cyber World who deals in this kind of strange data transfer.

The Point of No Return: Loading the Disk

It’s time to pay our old friend Spamton another visit. Your journey now takes you all the way back to his shop in the Trash Zone. Make the trek back through the mansion’s basement, up to the fast-travel door, and select “Trash Zone” one more time.

Head back into that familiar hole in the wall. But this time, your visit has a different purpose. Before you do anything else, take a moment.

A VERY IMPORTANT WARNING: Once you give the EmptyDisk to Spamton, his shop will close. Permanently. He will no longer sell you anything. If you want to buy any of his other items, like the Frayed Bowtie or the Amber Card, do it now. This is your absolute last chance.

Ready? Okay.

Interact with Spamton. Instead of choosing to buy, choose the option to talk or interact with him. You should see a prompt to give him the EmptyDisk. Select it. Spamton will be overjoyed. He’ll talk about transferring his essence, his very being, onto the disk for a purpose he calls “[Freedom]”. He will take the disk from you and, in return, give you the LoadedDisk.

His business with you is concluded. His shop is now just an empty husk. The deal is done. You are now locked into this secret path. There’s no turning back.

The Final Showdown: How to Beat Spamton NEO

Clutching the Loaded Disk, you must make the final journey. One last time, travel back to the Queen’s Mansion. One last time, descend into the eerie silence of the basement. Retrace your steps back to the derelict robot at the end of the long, dark corridor.

Walk up to the machine and insert the LoadedDisk.

For a moment, nothing happens. The machine whirs. The disk is read. And then, the room begins to shake. The machine comes to life, its old body serving as a vessel. It rises, and from within emerges the true form of your favorite salesman: the towering, terrifying, and utterly spectacular Spamton NEO.

This is it. The secret boss of Chapter 2. Get ready for one of the most incredible and challenging fights in the entire game.

How to Beat Spamton NEO Deltarune

The Spamton NEO fight is unlike anything else you’ve faced. Your SOUL is placed into a small yellow ship, and the battle becomes a bullet hell shoot ’em up. Your normal attack fires a stream of small yellow pellets, but by holding the attack button, you can charge up a powerful blast.

Your goal isn’t just to survive; it’s to either defeat him by force or by “mercy.”

The Pacifist Strategy (Snapping the Strings)

This is arguably the intended and more story-rich way to win. Spamton is a puppet, and you can see the strings controlling him. Your goal is to sever them.

ACT Commands

In the ACT menu, Kris has the “Snap” and “Snap All” commands. “Snap” costs 16% TP and targets one string, increasing the MERCY meter by a small amount. “Snap All” costs 50% TP, but it hits all the strings and massively boosts the MERCY meter.

The Charged Attack Mechanic

Many of Spamton NEO’s attacks involve him firing projectiles at you. Use your charged shots to destroy the blue Pipis bombs, his detachable face parts, and his waves of tiny Spamton heads. Successfully destroying these not only keeps you safe but also fills the MERCY meter.

Team Actions

Susie and Ralsei have unique support actions. Ralsei can use “FluffyGuard” to create a shield, and Susie can “Supercharge” your weapon for a short period. Use these strategically.

Heal, Heal, Heal

This fight is long and chaotic. Don’t be a hero. Use Ralsei’s healing spells and your inventory of items liberally. Keep your health high. It’s better to waste a turn healing than to lose the whole fight. A great trick is to press the F1 key once during the fight for a full party heal, a little gift from the game itself!

The Attack Strategy (Going for the Takedown)

If you prefer a more direct approach, you can whittle down his health to zero.

  • Focus Fire: Instead of using “Snap,” use Kris’s “Fight” command, which translates to your blaster in this mode. Keep firing and landing those powerful charged shots.
  • Rude Buster: Susie’s “Rude Buster” still does massive damage here, so if you have the TP and a safe opening, use it.
  • Target Weak Points: During some attacks, Spamton NEO will expose his heart. This is a critical weak point. Focus all your fire on it when you see it.

The Rewards

How you choose to end the fight determines your reward.

  • If you win by snapping all the strings (Pacifist), you will receive the Dealmaker. This is a powerful piece of armor for Kris that boosts defense and increases the amount of money you earn from battles.
  • If you win by reducing his HP to zero (Attack), you will receive the PuppetScarf. This is a weapon for Ralsei that boosts his attack and magic.

No matter how you win, you will also receive a Shadow Crystal, a key item just like the one you got from defeating Jevil in Chapter 1. Its true purpose is still a mystery, but it’s clearly very important.

And there you have it. You’ve delved into the darkest corner of the Cyber World, made a deal with a digital devil, and faced him in a battle for his very soul. Getting the Keygen is more than just a side quest; it’s a deep dive into the lore of Deltarune and a gameplay experience you won’t soon forget. Now, you can truly say you’ve mastered the Cyber World’s greatest secret.
