What’s in our Dying Light The Beast Walkthrough?
Taming the Beast Within: Getting Started in Castor Woods
Before you dive headfirst into your quest for revenge, you need to master the new powers at your disposal and re-familiarize yourself with the core tenets of survival in this twisted world.

Unleash Your Inner Monster: Understanding Beast Mode
Beast Mode is the game changing new mechanic. As you fight, a red meter fills when you deal damage with melee weapons, take hits, or perform perfect dodges. Once full, it automatically unleashes a devastating transformation. In Beast Mode, your health instantly refills, and your melee attacks become incredibly powerful, allowing you to tear through infected with your bare hands. You also gain a significant boost to your speed and jump height, opening up new tactical options in both combat and traversal.
The Core Rules of Survival
While Beast Mode is new, the three pillars of Dying Light remain. The fluid, first person parkour is back and better than ever, allowing you to navigate the dense forests and dilapidated structures of Castor Woods. Melee combat is just as brutal and satisfying as you remember, with a renewed focus on visceral impact. And, of course, the terrifying day-night cycle returns, making the darkness a place where only the smartest or fastest survivors last long.
Quick Tips for Your First Few Hours
Get a head start in Castor Woods with a few key pointers. Always keep an eye on your weapon durability; they break easily and require Scrap to repair. When night falls, your vehicle is your best friend. Its UV headlights create a mobile safe zone that can keep Volatiles at bay. Finally, get in the habit of pinning blueprints. This will track the required components on your UI, making scavenging for crafting materials much more efficient.
The Path of Vengeance: Main Quest Walkthrough
Your journey for revenge is a long and bloody one. Here’s how to navigate some of the key missions on your path to confronting the Baron.
Mission 4: The Beast Within
This mission begins after you speak with Jacob in the town hall. Your goal is to hunt down a mysterious creature spotted on the rooftops. Use your Survivor Sense to follow its tracks until an explosion guides you to a church. The main doors are locked, so look for a broken iron gate that leads into the basement. You’ll get your first glimpse of the beast before it flees upward. Now, you must complete a challenging parkour sequence inside the church, using scaffolding, statues, and chandeliers to climb the tower. The chase ends in a train tunnel, which collapses after you encounter a large infected. Don’t fight; just run for your life to escape.
Mission 5: First Blood
Olivia radios you about a convoy that was transporting a Chimera. Grab a vehicle and head to the highway east of the Monastery. After clearing the area of infected, inspect the convoy and follow the trail of bodies through a swamp to a small island. Be ready for a fight. As soon as you examine the scientist’s corpse on the island, the Chimera boss known as “The Mist” will ambush you.
Mission 6: Power Gambit
Your objective is to restore power to a massive power plant. First, use parkour to navigate the building’s exterior and reach the besieged foreman. To get inside, climb up the pipes and ledges to enter through an open window. Once inside, you’ll face a flooded turbine room puzzle. Dive underwater and shut off two valves, using a small air pocket to catch your breath. Return to the control room, but the terminal has no power. Find the backup generator room, start it up, and grab the power cable. It’s too short, so find a hidden floor hatch to route it to the terminal. Activating it drains the water but also alerts Baron’s soldiers, leading to a final firefight.
Hunting the Hunters: Chimera Boss Guides
Eight monstrous Chimeras stand between you and the Baron. These are the toughest fights in the game, but each has a weakness.

How to Beat The Reaper
The first Chimera you’ll face is a straightforward brawler. Its main attack is a charge. The key to this fight is to position yourself so that one of the arena’s large pillars is between you and the charging Reaper. When it smashes into a pillar, it will be stunned, leaving it wide open for you to unleash a flurry of attacks.
How to Beat The Defect
This Chimera is slow but hits like a truck. It telegraphs its heavy melee attacks, so dodging is your best friend. The arena is littered with gas canisters. When you have some distance, ignite a canister and throw it at The Defect. A direct hit will cause massive damage and stun it, giving you a perfect opportunity to attack.
How to Beat The Mist
This is one of the toughest fights due to the foggy arena. The Mist is fast and uses the fog to its advantage, leaping in for a quick strike before disappearing again. Constant movement is essential. Listen closely for its audio cues to track its location in the fog. Use ranged weapons when it’s at a distance, and focus on taking out the smaller zombies it summons, as it uses them to leap from for aerial attacks.
Gearing Up: Finding the Legendary Sawblade Launcher
Want the best ranged weapon in the game? You’ll have to work for it. The Sawblade Launcher blueprint is a legendary find that can turn the tide of any battle.
Location and Parkour Puzzle
You can find the blueprint at the “Silos” safe zone, located in the Pembroke region of The Vale. Getting to the top of the silos is a vertical parkour puzzle. You’ll need to find a dangling rope, swing to a pipe, and begin your climb. Make sure to kick down any ladders you come across to create shortcuts in case you fall.
Powering Up and Grabbing the Blueprint
Once you reach the top, clear out the zombies to secure the area. Grab the power cable, but be careful, you need to jump down to a lower platform to plug it into the circuit box. Once connected, climb back to the top. The restored power will have opened a previously locked room. Head inside through a hidden hatch, and you’ll find the Sawblade Launcher blueprint waiting for you on the workbench.
