Moonlighter 2 Weapons Tier List & How to Unlock Every Weapon

You know the drill. You dive into dungeons. You grab tons of loot and try not to die. But in order to get that loot, you need good weapons. And this game has a lot of them. I’m gonna show you how to unlock all weapons in Moonlighter 2.

That’s not all though. Because I’ll show you my Moonlighter 2 weapons tier list in which weapons are ranked from best to worst. So we have a lot to talk about. Without further ado, let’s begin.

How to Unlock All Weapons in Moonlighter 2

There are 20 weapons in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault. You’ll get some weapons right when you start the game. You can unlock other weapons by visiting the blacksmith and the best ones by completing quests and beating bosses.

Weapons you get right at the beginning:

Old Broom (Spear): It’s your starting spear.
Blob Gun (Gun): Your first gun, but it gets the job done.

Andrei the Blacksmith’s Merchant Set

After you open your shop or finish your first run in Kalina, head over to Andrei the Blacksmith. He’ll sell you the basic Merchant set. Each one costs 4 Sun Eaters.

Merchant’s Sword (Short Sword): Open the shop for the first time then you can buy it.
Merchant’s Large Sword (Large Sword): Come back after Kalina and buy it.
Merchant’s Spear (Spear): Same as the large sword, come after Kalina and buy it.
Merchant’s Gauntlets (Gauntlets): After Kalina, come and get this one.

All Best Weapons in Moonlighter 2 and How to Get Them

These are the unique weapons you’d really want. You’ll have to work for them by finishing side quests and taking down bosses.

Everlasting Fury (Short Sword): Just talk to Andrei the Blacksmith after your very first run in Kalina. He’ll give you the recipe. Simple.
What’s not simple is that you have to defeat the Herald in order to get the Sound of Hubris. Only then will you be able to craft the Everlasting Fury short sword.
The Vow (Large Sword): Find Erin and do the side quest A Hidden Treasure in the Desert. You’ll have to find a hidden portal in the Kalina during the day. Do the side quest and get the recipe. It’s gonna cost you 2000 gold and four Sun Eaters.
Combat Rod (Spear): Get your Aetherium Heart weapon ready. In the first area of the Gallery, you’ll see a boy trapped in a capsule. You need to bust him out with your weapon.
After you do that, go back to town and talk to him for the recipe. The cost is 2000 gold and four Oneiric Stones.
Sun and Moon Ballad (Gauntlets): First, beat the Herald and finish Andrei’s side quest Old Days, New Tech. That gets you the recipe. But to craft it, you need an Alabaster Candle, which you get from beating Thalaam who is the Night Realm’s boss.
Ray Axe (Short Sword): After you finish Julien’s side quest, you’ll get Souls Forever Lost 2 and the weapon’s recipe. Complete that quest to get the King’s Right Mask which is dropped by the Monte boss in Aeolia.
Aetherium Heart (Large Sword): Go visit Julien after you’ve been to Aeolia. He’s gonna give you the recipe. You’ll need a King’s Left Mask from the Senda boss to craft it.
The Rectifier (Spear): Beat the Curator boss then go check on Babyl to get this recipe. For the materials, you need to do the Police Jurisdiction side quest in the Gallery.
Heartbeat Hunter (Gauntlets): Find the hidden extra room in the Gallery’s Exhibitor Wing to complete the A Hidden Treasure in the Gallery side quest from Eris.
Blo-Beam (Gun): Complete a run in the Gallery. Win, die, escape. It all counts. Then visit Babyl to receive the recipe.
Blo-Blaster (Gun): Again, Erin’s quest. This it is the A Hidden Treasure in Aeolia side quest. Finish it and you’ll get the receipt. It’s gonna cost you 2000 gold and four Oneiric Stones.

Burning Hammer Weapons

These are your end game weapons. To get them, you need to complete the fourth challenge from The Vault. The one where you have to earn 200,000 gold. Your reward is the Burning Hammer. Take that to Andrei, and he’ll be able to craft all four of these beasts.

Ultimate Short Sword: Costs 2000 gold & four Echo Links.
Ultimate Large Sword: Costs 2000 gold & four Echo Links.
Ultimate Spear: Costs 2000 gold & four Moon Flowers.
Ultimate Gauntlets: Costs 2000 gold & four Oneiric Stones.

Moonlighter 2 Weapons Tier List

Now it’s time for our Moonlighter 2 Weapons tier list. Which ones should you use?

S-Tier

These are the absolute best weapons in the game. They’re game changers.

Aetherium Heart (Large Sword): The best melee weapon, period. It totally fixes the main problem with slow Large Swords which would make it incredibly powerful.
Ultimate Spear (Spear): You’re tired of spears that miss. I know. That’s why this one’s for you. The spearheads go between enemies if they’re close. It’s amazing.
Ultimate Short Sword (Short Sword): This one takes some practice to nail it, but you get infinite ammo. What else would you want?
Blo-Beam (Gun): This is just the best gun. It’s not even a contest. It has awesome range. It hits like a truck. You can upgrade its capacity and reload speed.

A-Tier

These are rock solid weapons. Not quite S-Tier, but they will carry you through the game with no problem.

Blo-Blaster (Gun): Does great damage, but you have to be up close. Its big drawback is that you lose all your range.
Sun and Moon Ballad (Gauntlets): Probably the best gauntlets. Its double attack effect is already good, but if you add an elemental perk the damage gets even better.
Merchant’s Large Sword (Large Sword): With this sword, it’s pretty easy to keep your Sharpness high, so you get a nice consistent damage boost.
Ray Axe (Short Sword): The effect is good, but it makes you work for it. Definitely shouldn’t be your first choice though.
Merchant’s Short Sword (Short Sword): A damage buff is fine, but it’s just not that exciting compared to other weapons.
Merchant’s Spear (Spear): It’s a spear. It has good range. It’s fine. But its Special, with no perks is pretty much like you don’t have anything equipped.

B-Tier

These weapons aren’t terrible, but you can do a lot better. They’re either too situational or just plain outclassed.

Heartbeat Hunter (Gauntlets): High-risk high-reward. If you’re a pro and know every enemy pattern, it’s great. If you’re still learning, the double damage taken downside will get you killed a lot.
The Rectifier (Spear): If you like to play aggressive, you’ll love this spear. It’s a great twist on the normal spear special.
Everlasting Fury (Short Sword): Simple and effective. It gives you a 50% damage boost against bosses.
Ultimate Large Sword (Large Sword): The special effect here scales like crazy when you buff it with Sharpness or an element.
Ultimate Gauntlets (Gauntlets): It doesn’t live up to its name. That’s for sure. It’s got the worst effect of the four. It still works, but then again, your choice.
Blob Gun (Gun): Your starting gun. There’s nothing wrong with it, but the other two guns are just way more special.
The Vow (Large Sword): This sword drains your Sharpness over time, which is just annoying. There are much better Large Swords.
Combat Rod (Spear): The special on this spear is almost useless against any enemy that moves or flies.
Merchant’s Gauntlets (Gauntlets): Your normal gauntlets. But other gauntlets have way better effects.
