S-Tier: The Cosmic Heavyweights
These are the characters you want on your team when the screen gets chaotic. They have all the damage and range it takes to get the job done. They can handle both ground and air enemies without breaking a sweat.

Silver Surfer
You’d think a guy on a surfboard would feel floaty, but the Silver Surfer is arguably the best character in the game. He dominates the air with unmatched speed and has this incredible melee range that keeps enemies at bay.
His special attack covers a huge chunk of the screen with those trademark Kirby Dots which is a gorgeous nod to the comics. He takes a while to unlock, but trust me, he is worth the wait. You have to complete the Fort Galactus mission to unlock Silver Surfer.
Cosmic Ghost Rider
I’m going to be honest. I didn’t know what to expect from this Punisher meets Ghost Rider mashup, but he turned out to be an absolute powerhouse. He’s arguably the best all-around fighter in the game.
His missile barrage gives him the best long-range in the game. Cosmic Ghost Rider can pull enemies in like Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion to continue the beatdown. If you want a character who can hit everything on the screen, this is your guy.
Venom
While he’s a bit slower than the others in this tier, Venom makes up for it with sheer brutality. His Symbiote Wrecking Ball just demolishes flying enemies which is a huge relief in later levels. His ability to grab and slam them adds some satisfying feeling to the mix. He’s the perfect tank to swap in when you need to clear space.
Phyla-Vell
Phyla-Vell is a sword character. She brings a breath of fresh air to the roster with her high DPS blade attacks. She is ridiculously fast and her teleport slash is incredibly effective for dodging and countering. If you like high mobility and flashy screen clearing specials, you’re going to love her.
A-Tier: Very Good Fighters
These heroes are amazing, but they usually have one small flaw that forces you to rely on a good tag partner. They are still top-tier choices, just slightly less self sufficient than the super duper powerful heroes above.

Phoenix
Phoenix is a powerhouse. Her special attack is hands down the best in the game for crowd control. She can toss enemies around with psychic powers and it never gets old. The only downside is that her grab move needs to recharge. Still, if you chain her moves right, she feels like a cheat code.
Wolverine
There is something viscerally satisfying about slashing through enemies with Logan. He captures that raw animal fury perfectly. Wolverine is arguably the best close combat fighter on the roster. However, he struggles against flying enemies and lacks range. You’ll want to pair him with someone who can shoot. On the ground, though, he’s the best there is at what he does.
Captain America
Cap is just reliable. His homing shield is the only ranged attack that you don’t need to recharge which is a lifesaver. He’s got excellent movement speed and feels surprisingly athletic. Captain America might not have the flashiest special, but he’s the glue that holds a team together.
Black Panther
Fast and fierce. Black Panther feels like a Jack Kirby drawing come to life. His Vibranium is great for quick ranged damage, though you only get three before recharging. If you like hit and run tactics and zipping around the screen, T’Challa is the one.
B-Tier: Solid but Situational
Here’s where things get interesting. You might find your favorite character here. They have undeniable strengths, but they often come with glaring weaknesses like slow speed or limited range.

Iron Man
Okay, I know. Iron Man, here? It feels wrong considering how fun he is to play. He can fly around and shoot repulsor blasts which feels effortless and smooth.
However, mechanically, he requires you to charge his blasts often and his basic melee range is also surprisingly limited. He’s great for crowd control with his dive punch, but he can leave you open if you aren’t careful.
Storm
Storm is a literal force of nature. Her screen clearing special is one of the best in the game. But unlike the tanks in S-Tier, she lacks good close range options. Storm is a glass cannon type. She’s devastating from a distance, but you don’t want her in the middle of a mosh pit.
Nova
Nova is a solid middle of the road pick. He punches hard and has decent ranged attacks. He’s a great Plan B character to control the air, but doesn’t really excel in any single category compared to the heroes above him.
She-Hulk
If you want to just smash things, She-Hulk is probably the strongest fighter in terms of raw damage. Her slams are brutal and her one-liners are hilarious. Though, you have to know that she is very slow. You really feel her weight, which is great for impact but bad for dodging fast projectiles.
C-Tier: High Efforts, Low Rewards
These characters can be fun, but you have to work a lot harder to get the same results. They pretty much lack the damage output or versatility of the top tiers.

Spider-Man
It hurts to put Spidey this low. He’s incredibly popular and his webbing is great for slowing enemies down. Plus, he’s fast and never misses an opportunity to make jokes. But mechanically speaking, his damage output is underwhelming.
His swings aren’t as deadly as Venom’s which is a shame. He works best as a support character rather than a main damage dealer.
Rocket Raccoon
Rocket is adorable and brings a ton of gadgets to the fight. He’s a great ranged fighter, but he is weak in close combat and struggles significantly against flying enemies. He’s more like a special task fighter. You’re pretty much doomed during many encounters in the game if you pick him.
Beta Ray Bill
He looks amazing. He’s huge and he wields a massive hammer. But he is painfully slow. His hammer acts like a homing missile, which is cool, but it has limited charges. If you miss, you’re vulnerable. He’s satisfying to land hits with, but stressful to manage in a crowded fight.
At the end of the day, the best character is the one that makes you smile when you play. Whether that’s sliding around as Silver Surfer or just listening to Spider-Man’s jokes. There’s no wrong way to save the universe.
Hope this MARVEL Cosmic Invasion tier list helps you choose your desired heroes. Feel free to leave a comment and talk about the heroes you chose and saved the universe with.
