What Is in Our ” All 50 Sword of the Sea Shell Locations “
A Few Tips Before You Start Your Treasure Hunt
Before you dive in, keep a couple of things in mind to make your hunt way easier.

- Restore the Water First! This is the most important tip. In almost every area, your primary goal is to bring the water back. Doing this often changes the entire landscape, creating new paths with seaweed to climb or jellyfish to bounce on. Many shells are impossible to reach until you’ve done this.
- Think Like an Explorer: The developers love hiding things in plain sight. If you see a weird looking ledge, a path that seems to lead to nowhere, or a suspicious looking cave, there’s probably a shell there. Always check behind waterfalls it’s the oldest trick in the video game book for a reason.
Veiled Sea – All 10 Shell Locations
The first area is a great introduction to shell hunting. It’s best to activate both large chains in the area first to make getting around easier.
- Right by the first vendor who teaches you tricks, look at the wall to your left. The shell is tucked inside a small, cave like opening.
- In the large open area that splits left and right, head left. After you cleanse the area and the waterfall starts flowing, check in a small cave to the right of the waterfall’s base.
- Continuing on the left path, you’ll enter a cave with a large tapestry. After cleansing it, a small entrance opens to the right. Follow this path to a secret area with the shell.
- After activating the left chain, you’ll be on a tower where you can ride the Orcas. The shell is sitting on the head of the left Orca statue.
- From the same Orca tower, look out of bounds. You’ll see a series of small descending platforms. You’ll need a good run up to jump to them. The shell is on the lowest one.
- Back on the Orca tower again. Look to the right this time for a rocky ledge below. Hop down and enter the nearby cave to find the shell.
- Now, head to the right side of the map (near the Trick Attack arena). After cleansing the area, start grinding back along the chain toward the center. About halfway, you’ll spot this shell sitting out in the open on your right.
- From the previous shell, hop back on the chain and jump off at the first ring to your left. This leads to an area with a broken bridge. The shell is near a statue at the very bottom of this area.
- From the broken bridge area, use the seaweed to climb up and cross over some more broken bridges to your right. Look down and to the left to spot a path below. The shell is in a small cave at the end of that path.
- This sneaky shell is hidden just to the left of the entrance to the Trick Attack arena. Follow the wall to find a hidden path that leads to the final shell of this region.
Lost Grotto – All 11 Shell Locations
This area is much more vertical, so keep your eyes peeled above and below you.
- In the first puzzle area with two “bubble” puzzles, look for a small opening in the building directly under the top bubble’s opening. Drop down into it.
- When you reach an area where a mysterious character is across a gap, jump straight into that gap. You’ll land in a secret area with a shell.
- While surfing across the rooftops in the dense part of the grotto, look for a walkway underneath you. Drop down to find the shell.
- In the area with four fountains you need to activate (where the Trick Attack arena is), look for a sunken spot with low floating jellyfish. The shell is in this dip.
- You can’t get this until you reach the top of the grotto. You’ll see a giant dolphin statue. Climb onto its back; the shell is on its head.
- On your way out, you’ll grind along a long aqueduct. Stop and look down. The shell is on a small awning below you.
- Keep grinding the chain until you reach a building with a square opening on top. The shell is tucked away in a small alcove on this rooftop.
- Just before you get back to the bubble puzzle area, jump off the chain to the left. A seaweed path will take you up a cliff to the shell.
- Near the beginning of the level is a wallride section. Thanks to the restored water and seaweed, you can now reach a higher sandy path that leads to a cave with this shell.
- Inside the bubble puzzle area, look for a small hidden alcove on the other side of the smaller wallride. The shell is tucked away in there.
- The final shell is right next to the exit door. Instead of leaving, go to the right of the door and through some blue crystals to find a hidden path.
Forbidden Valley – The Lone Shell
The developers decided to give us a break here. Since this is a story focused section where you control a dolphin, there’s only one shell to find.
- At the very end of the level, after being launched by the first geyser, do not ride the second one. Break the green crystals to go up the first waterfalls. You’ll see another large waterfall on your right. Go behind it to find a path leading up. From this high vantage point, you’ll see the shell on a rock tower. Light the nearby lanterns to create a jellyfish you can use to bounce over to it.
Shadow Tundra – All 10 Shell Locations
The white shells can be a bit tricky to spot against the snow here, so keep your eyes peeled.
- In the blizzard section, follow the statues to the exit door. Then, go back to the last statue and climb it. The shell is on the tip of its sword.
- After the blizzard, you’ll find a giant stone statue in an open area. Climb it. Yep, this shell is also on the tip of its sword. They really liked that hiding spot.
- After grinding the chain, you’ll enter an icy corridor that leads to a loop de loop. Before the loop, check a small alcove in the right hand wall.
- Past the loop, you’ll be in an area with window like openings. Check the openings on the right wall; one of them is missing its grate and has the shell.
- In the first big open area where you need to use boosts to cross gaps, look up. You’ll see three broken bridge pieces high above. Chain your boosts to jump between them to get the shell on the last one.
- After the big jump, head right and cross the gap to an area filled with giant skeletons. Before cleansing the area, jump right inside the skull of one of the dead animals.
- After activating the first tower, head toward the second one but stick to the left. Go behind the tower and down a hill to find a statue of a shark. The shell is behind it.
- Now head up the icy hills toward the other tower. Instead of crossing the gap, slide down the hill, staying left, and use a snowdrift as a ramp. The shell is on top of a large stone archway.
- Repeat the process for the last shell, but stop just before the snowdrift ramp. Look to your right for a crack in the rocks with the shell inside.
- As you head for the exit, check the icicles behind the shark statue on the right. There’s a gap in the ice you can pass through to find the last shell.
Frozen Drifts – Another Lone Shell
Like the Forbidden Valley, this is a cinematic section where you’re riding a great white shark. Just one shell to worry about!
- At the very end of the level, the environment will change from snow to slippery, clear ice. Look for a big red tower on a mountain. Go down the backside of that mountain to find some lanterns. Lighting them reveals a new path with a giant sword and the shell at the end.
Sacred River – All 11 Shell Locations
This gorgeous area is huge, so get ready for a proper treasure hunt.
- In the first room full of dolphin statues, use the water rails to grind from one to the next. The shell is hidden to the right of the statue at the far end of the room.
- Near the area where you light lanterns while grinding on water rails, look for a crack in the wall on your right. Head inside and cross the gap.
- After cleansing a room and causing a whale to appear, ride it to the very top. The shell is on the circular ledge up there.
- Once you exit into the big open area, check the cliffs on your right. You’ll see some boats sticking out. One of them is actually the entrance to a cave with the shell.
- After lighting lanterns to reach a higher level, look for a shell on a floating boat next to the exit archway on the left.
- After you raise the giant sunken ship, get on deck and use the ramp to reach the top where the chain is. The shell is at the highest point of the ship.
- From the top of the ship, look around. You’ll see a distant platform with two statues and a shell between them.
- On the lower level, stay on the upper path and hug the left wall. Following this path to the end will lead you to the shell.
- Find the entrance to the hull of the big ship. Inside, among the pots and chests, you’ll find a shell inside a tipped over pot.
- As you grind the chain to the upper levels, look down about halfway. You’ll see a set of lanterns on a much lower, hidden platform. Jump down to it.
- At the very top, when you’re using lantern paths to get from one tower to another, you’ll spot three extra lanterns leading to a separate floating island. Make a careful jump to get the last shell.

Boiling Cavern – All 6 Shell Locations
The final area! The floor is literally lava in some places, so be quick on your feet.
- In the first open lava filled area, go to the left of the two stone pillars and behind the jagged rock formation.
- Just after the first bubble puzzle, go right in the next room, climb the rocks, and follow the narrow path to a large archway. The shell is on the last platform.
- In the open area after you slide down the slope next to the serpent, head into the middle of the lava and look right. Use a tipped over boat as a ramp to reach a narrow stone path above. The shell is in a small alcove near a shark statue.
- From the previous shell, drop down and head to the back left corner of the area. There’s a small safe platform and a crack in the wall you need to dash through quickly.
- In the area where you grind on giant skeletal spines, head towards the stele that reads ‘When Water Battles Fire.’ From there, jump forward across the stone platforms, then turn left into a small cave. Grind another skeleton inside to reach the shell.
- This last shell is a bit of a troll. In the same spine grinding area, go to the ‘When Water Battles Fire’ stele. Instead of going forward, go right. A hidden path leads to the final vendor, who sells you the Super Jump. The final shell in the game is sitting right next to him.
