Elder Gongsun Where Winds Meet Guide

The battle against Elder Gongsun is one of the toughest challenges in Where Winds Meet. This is not just a story boss, it is a real test of skill including fast attacks, red strikes, combos and easily missed moves. If you love intense duels, this fight is right up your alley.

In Elder Gongsun Where Winds Meet Guide, we give you some tips for defeating Elder Gongsun easily. Before that, you need some information about his location and whereabouts.

Elder Gongsun Location

Elder Gongsun can be found in the General’s Shrine, located in the northwest part of Verdant Wilds in the Qinghe region.

How to Beat Elder Gongsun in Where Winds Meet?

Elder Gongsun is programmed to strike back when you repeatedly attack him up close especially with Light Attacks. Knowing this, you can use certain tactics to win the fight.

Be Aware of Combos

Elder Gongsun performs two combo chains attacks. The first one begins with a kick and the other one starts with Force Palm. His combos finish with red attacks which can be parried to open up a chance for heavy damage. After a string of strikes, he may also execute special moves like jumps, lunges and Qi (stamina) recovery.

Start the fight by casting Shadow Step’s wave slash from a distance. Then close in for the follow-up strike which he won’t dodge or counter. Note that performing Shadow Step consumes Endurance.

Dodge Melee Combos

Due to his different timing in attacks, it is hard to block or parry his melee combos. Elder Gongsun Where Winds Meet Guide strongly advise you to focus on dodging and keeping your distance during this combo because getting hit repeatedly can quickly drain your Qi bar.

Parry Red-colored Attacks

Elder Gongsun has two Red attacks: one occurs during his Two-Handed Palm Strike followed by a 5-hit combo and the other happens when he uses a Smoke Bomb and performs the Leaping Toad as a Red attack.

The Two-Handed Palm Strike often triggers when you attack him. Thus, be ready to parry both this move and the following 5-hit combo which are easy to anticipate. For the Leaping Toad, stay close inside the Smoke Bomb so you can time your parry perfectly.

Some Tips for Defeating Elder Gongsun

There are some useful tips for beating Elder Gongsun which can be helpful:

  • Do not rush him: Start the fight and retreat after two or three hits. Let him show his attack patterns.
  • Interrupt his Qi recovery: As soon as he begins to regenerate his stamina, attack him.
  • Avoid attacking nonstop: The best strategy is to strike only when he is vulnerable or immediately after a Red attack to counter.
  • Keep an eye out for his Qi recovery skill: In order to cancel his Qi recovery process, attack with Daunting Strike.
