Let’s Be Honest: Robert is Actually the Real Villain of Dispatch!

There is no doubt that we all love villain-twist endings. A hidden mastermind, a corrupted high-rank official or a two-face hero revealed at the end of the story and then we are stunned. However, Dispatch pulls off something far more heinous.

In Dispatch, the real villain can be Robert, or simply you. By villain, we do not mean he is evil or malicious. In fact, he can be named an antagonist for more human reason: he does not trust the one (in the case of cutting Invisigal) who always supports him. That individual is Invisigal, one of the most popular characters of the game. So, Let’s be honest: Robert is actually the real villain of Dispatch!

Tragedy of Chronic Suspicion

Through the story, Invisigal did nothing but support and guide Robert. Even she risked her life to bring back the Astral Pulse. However, Robert’s reaction to all of her heroic acts was a bitter mixture of side-eye, refusal and rejection.

Robert’s mistrust was nothing but a cold, merciless response to Invisigal’s actions for him and Z-Team. He doe not actually have an enemy. In fact, the real enemy is the suspicion poisoned him.

Cutting Invisigal is not a “Choice”

For so many reason, it is really sad to cut Invisigal in Episode 7. She is the emotional anchor for Robert and also serves as the character with critical thinking. On the other hand, Invisigal is one of the most reliable characters for defeating enemies.

Player may justify their choice by stating that “She is manipulating me”, “Distance is the better option” or “I should rely on myself. In fact, The moment Robert pushes Invisigal away, Dispatch’s fragile balance falls apart. She was the stabilizing force, the invisible thread holding the story’s worst outcomes in check.

Cutting Invisigal can be one of the bad decision to make in the game. whether you focus on self-reliance or want to be the team’s favorite, rejecting her leads to bad consequences, not in the game but for one’s conscience.

What Is the Worst Ending of Dispatch? The Answer is Simple!

For enabling the worst ending in Dispatch, you do not need to perform a malicious act. You just have to cut Invisigal and do not forgive her. A crescendo of mistakes culminates in the finale in which Robert must face the consequences of his choices.

At this point, we reach to a sad-but-true fact: This is what happens when you push away the one person who truly believed in you. Absence of Invisigal creates a void, a vacuum full of mistrust, moral drift and miscalculation.

That is true villainy, not a one involving a criminal or corrupted mastermind, but a real-world version we have experienced in our lives. There is no culprit for this disaster, juts look at the heart with fear and distrust.

If Actions Defines Villainy, Robert Fits the Role!

First, let’s ask some questions, Does Robert twirl a mustache? No. Does he laugh maniacally while revealing a doomsday device? Also no.

So, how can Robert be a villain? Simply, he rejects the one ally who could save him, makes a choice that could put the whole team at risk and forgets all the things Invisigal did for him. In this regard, our SDN agent becomes his own enemy, a foe with powerful weapons included mistrust and suspicion.

Robert, Villain or Tragic Hero? That Is the Question!

Calling Robert a heartless villain is unfair. In fact, Robert is not “pure” evil. He is not after power. He is not trying to destroy anything. The SDN agent just made a bad choice at a wrong time and in the wrong place. However, some mistakes make you an evil in the eyes of others.

But through pride, fear, mistrust, and shutting himself off emotionally, he ends up creating the villain version of himself in Dispatch. In other words, we can call Robert a tragic hero: a character with admirable qualities that make the audience sympathize with him. But he also have flaws or make mistakes that eventually lead to his downfall.

And the bitter truth? The Villain Ending doesn’t happen because Robert is corrupted. It happens because he refuses to connect. Invisigal wasn’t the threat, she was the lifeline he chose to sever.
