Where Winds Meet Tian Ying

In Where Winds Meet, Tian Ying (also called Miaoshan) is not just another boss. In fact, he represents the peak of the Qinghe region’s story and combat challenges.

You will not face him until you have cleared key exploration objectives and finished a special legacy quest. When you finally do that, you will be up against one of the game’s hardest battles.

In this Where Winds Meet Tian Ying guide, we will demonstrate how to unlock the fight and then give a step-by-step strategy to reliably beat each phase.

Tian Ying Location

For finding Where Winds Meet Tian Ying location, you should venture into a hidden multi-room dungeon beneath the Buddha’s Light Pagoda at Halo Peak in the Qinghe region. The dungeon includes rope-bridge section and culminates in the Thousand-Buddha Cavern. In this place, Tian Ying awaits. This is where you will face him during The Promised Light quest.

To take on Tian Ying, you will need to earn 6,000 Qinghe Exploration Points first, then start The Promised Light quest from the Wayfarer in Sundara Land.

How to Beat Tian Ying in Where Winds Meet

For defeating Where Winds Meet Tian Ying, there are multiple ways. However, there some techniques which you can perform in order to beat the boss in easier ways.

Phase 1: Meridian Touch

When Tian Ying lifts his staff and it glows gold, he is about to unleash a powerful shockwave that can deal massive damage. Using the Meridian Touch mystic art is highly recommended. It can interrupt the shockwave while he is channeling and knock him down for a few seconds.

Keep in mind that Meridian Touch has a 10-second cooldown. Therefore, if it is not ready, make sure to stay at a safe distance when he performs the shockwave.

Phase 2: Statue Attack

In Tian Ying’s second phase, he will eventually float into the air and use the Buddha statue behind him to launch a series of wide AoE attacks across the arena. Staying on the sides of the arena puts you in a blind spot. This strategy helps you to avoid these attacks.

From the side, you can also safely use ranged attacks. Just be careful not to move toward the center because the Buddha statue can still reach you there.

Phase 3: Clones

In the third and final phase, Tian Ying can summon three clones that attack you at the same time. He occasionally strikes from your blind spot. The best strategy is to ignore the clones and focus on parrying Tian Ying’s attacks. Each successful parry will eliminate one clone from the field.
