Stuck in Hollow knight Silksong Far Fields? Here’s How to Escape

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re running in circles. You’ve jumped across every lava pit, fought every ant warrior, and stared up at those tantalizing thermal updrafts in Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Far Fields, only to find yourself back where you started. It’s a frustrating loop that makes many players feel like they’re soft locked.

Far Fields is designed to feel like a trap. It’s a crucible, a hidden tutorial that forces you to unlearn your old habits and master a new way of moving. Here’s the one quest you need to complete to finally escape.

Step 1: Locate the Seamstress’s Tent

The entire puzzle of Far Fields revolves around a single NPC. Your number one priority is to find her. In the main, large vertical chamber, look for a large, balloon like tent suspended by giant chains. Make your way over to it, climb up, and head inside.

Step 2: Accept the “Hunt Flexible Spines” Quest

Inside the tent, you’ll meet the Seamstress. She’ll share some crucial lore about the kingdom and, most importantly, offer you a quest: “Hunt Flexible Spines.” This is the key to your escape. Accept her offer to begin.

Step 3: Collect 25 Spine Cores

This is the part that trips everyone up. The Seamstress asks for 25 Spine Cores, and your first instinct might be to hunt down the floating, bushy enemies in the area called Hokers. However, simply killing them won’t get you what you need.

The solution is a clever interactive puzzle:

  1. Find the Hokers: The best place to farm them is in the cave system located just to the right of the Seamstress’s tent.
  2. Bait the Attack: Hit a Hoker just once. It will retaliate by firing a volley of sharp projectiles at you.
  3. Harvest the Spines: These projectiles will embed themselves in the ground and walls. These are what you need to hit. Strike the embedded spines, and they will shatter, dropping the Spine Cores you need to collect.

You’ll need to leave and enter the area agian to make the Hokers respawn until you have all 25 Spine Cores.

Step 4: Get the Drifter’s Cloak

Return to the Seamstress with the 25 Spine Cores, and she will craft the Drifter’s Cloak for you. This is the reward for your efforts and the tool that will set you free. This powerful new cloak allows you to glide and, most importantly, ride the thermal updrafts.

Step 5: Ride the Wind to Freedom

With the Drifter’s Cloak equipped, your prison becomes your playground. Head back out to the main chamber and jump into one of the updrafts. You’ll now soar into the air, finally able to reach the upper platforms.

From here, your path is clear. Continue your ascent, navigate past the remaining enemies, and you will eventually find your way out of Far Fields and into the next major region of Pharloom: Greymoor.

You haven’t just escaped a confusing area; you’ve mastered a core mechanic that will be essential for the rest of your deadly pilgrimage. Now that you’re free, you might be wondering about the most efficient way forward. For a look at the bigger picture, be sure to check out our guide on the best route to take through all of Silksong.
