Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Phyre’s Mark

It might come as a surprise, but there is a way to permanently increase your health bar in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2. You can do this by finding and collecting secret graffiti scattered across the city. It’s called Phyre’s Mark. Each time you find one, use your Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Telekinesis ability to absorb it permanently. Your maximum health gets a slight boost every time which is a huge help and pretty essential on the harder difficulties. You also gain 100 XP every time. There’s that too.

Pro tip: Keep in mind these marks are only visible in Heightened Senses.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Movements and Exploration

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 takes place in Seattle. Navigating the city is a huge part of the game. So you should learn to do it efficiently. You probably already know you can use your vampire sight to highlight walls in yellow. It lets you of course run right up to the rooftops. But the game doesn’t give you Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 tips like these especially early on.

If you hold down the dodge button you can sprint. By that you’re gonna be able to double jump off ledges giving you a massive speed boost while gliding. If you do this you can navigate the rooftops without ever touching the ground. It gives you an amazing opportunity for setting up aerial assassinations.

Pro tip: Just be careful you don’t vampire sprint past peasants on the ground if you don’t wanna break the masquerade.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Combat

Every Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 vampire has the Telekinesis power. Honestly, it’s one of the strongest abilities in the entire game. You can use your Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Telekinesis ability inflict a lot a pain, a lot of cool stuff. You can:

  • Instantly kill enemies by pulling them off rooftops.
  • Set enemies up for a gentle push off a ledge.
  • Pick up objects from the ground and hurl them into your enemies.
  • Grab a boomstick and empty the clip into your enemies.

Pro tip: You use it for some nice Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 stealth since it doesn’t make a sound.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Melee Fights

The fastest way to die in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is to get surrounded by other people in a fight. To avoid this you need to constantly reposition. That’s how to win the Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 melee fights:

  • Keep dodging left, right, especially backwards.
  • You can also sprint away to get distance as enemies try to group up on you.
  • A great tactic is to dodge backwards and immediately follow up with a punch or a drop kick. This can knock down multiple enemies and give you room to eat them to heal yourself.

Pro tip: While some clans have powerful area of effect abilities that clear rooms instantly, I have to say that for everyone else dodging and sneaking are your best friends. (Make sure to check out our Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 clans guide as well in order to know about all the Vampire Bloodlines 2 clans.)

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Break the Masquerade

There’s this rule called Masquerade. All vampires must obey this law of secrecy in order to keep their society hidden from humanity. If you fly through the air or feed on humans in public, you can get caught as nonhuman which means you’re pretty much done for.

  • Yellow Meter: Minor infractions, like moving with inhuman speed, will fill the green meter to yellow. At this point, humans become suspicious of your actions.
  • Red Meter: Getting caught feeding will make the meter fill rapidly into red. The police’s gonna chase you down. You’re gonna have to break their line of sight and get to the safety. Go to the rooftops to survive.

Pro tip: If that red meter reaches the top, the Camarilla will send an assassin vampire to take care of you by stabbing you in the heart from behind! That’s not something you would want, right? Then don’t get your eyes off the meter.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Blood Resonance

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 ability tree is wild. However, in order to buy other clans’ abilities you must first unlock them. How do you do that? You have to unlock them through clan trainers. These trainers are located around the world and will pop up on your map after the first boss fight, which happens a few hours into the main story. Just go to their place. Talk to them and ask them to train you in their skill clan.

Now to unlock an ability from a trainer, you need the special Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Blood Resonance currency. This currency is split into three types which represent different emotions.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Blood Resonance colors: red for angry, blue for afraid, and pink for aroused.

The easiest way to Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Blood Resonance farm is to get it from NPCs. This is marked on your map as Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Blood Resonance event. Head to the location. Find your NPC and make sure nobody is around before you feed or you’ll risk the masquerade and already know what’s gonna happen if you break it. A complete feed gives you 100 Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Sanguine points.

Pro tip: Alternatively, you can use your vampire sensors to find highlighted NPCs in these emotional states.

  • For Red NPCs: Say something to make them angry. They’re gonna chase you. Lead them to somewhere nice and quite, then take care of them.
  • For Blue NPCs: Say something scary and crazy to make them run. Follow them into the shadows and drink some blood off them.
  • For Pink NPCs: Tell them you’re up for some fun time. They’re gonna willingly follow you. Lead them somewhere safe and then you know what to do.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Outfits

Once an ability is unlocked via the trainer, you still need to spend your regular ability points to actually use it. Keep in mind, you can only have four abilities active at one time. Unlocking these abilities also unlocks different Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 outfits. NPCs will react differently to you based on the outfit you’re wearing. It can make farming specific blood resonances easier. There are 24 outfits in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2.

Pro tip: The way you deal with your power progression dictates what kind a of outfits you can unlock in the game. Every outfit’s got its own power. Spend your ability points to unlock the ones for your clan. You can also totally grab all the powers and outfits from the other five clans too.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Codex

I know what you might think, but surprisingly I actually recommend reading the codex. A lot of the Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 gameplay mechanics are explained in there. It’s where you’ll find collected notes, lore, useful tips and tricks that the game doesn’t just spell out for you as you’re playing.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 How to Level Up Fast

To afford all these new abilities, you’re gonna have to level up quickly. The fastest way, especially early on, is just by speeding through the main story line. However, this can cause you to miss side quests. They are missable. If you progress the main story too far, you’ll miss out on building relationships with some NPCs. Most importantly, you’ll miss out on some serious parts and the ability points you need to buy those other clan skills. After you get far enough in the story, six clan informants will appear in havens offering you clan contracts which are side quests.

Pro tip: Here are some things to help you level up fast in the game:

    • Feeding on NPCs gives you 10 XP, but that’s a slow grind.
    • Killing enemy ghouls on the rooftops (they respawn constantly after a certain story point).
    • Collecting graffiti and codex items, which give you about 100 XP each.

Ultimately, your initial clan choice is incredibly important because it dictates your main play style for the whole playthrough.
