How to Evolve Balls in Ball x Pit
Before you can start creating insane Ball x Pit combos, there’s one golden rule you need to know. Any Special Ball must be upgraded to max level before it can be used in an evolution. You’ll level up your balls by collecting the gems dropped by enemies during your runs. Once two compatible balls reach max level, the Evolution option will appear when you level up. This option is offered alongside Fusion (which combines already evolved balls) and Fission (which upgrades a ball), so choose carefully. Don’t forget to check out our Ball x Pit tips and tricks in you want to get ahead in the game.

Knowing which items to combine is key to creating game breaking builds. Don’t forget to check out our BALL x PIT achievements guide if you want to 100% the game. If you’re struggling to get BALL x PIT Nosferatu and Satan achievements check out our guide.
Here is a complete table of all passive evolutions, their recipes, and exactly what they do.
| Resulting Evolution | Recipe (Required Items) | What It Does (Effect) |
|---|---|---|
| Soul Reaver | Everflowing Goblet + Vampiric Sword | The ultimate sustain item. Each kill heals you by 1 health, and it allows you to heal past your max health at 30% efficiency. |
| Cornucopia | Baby Rattle + War Horn | A legendary support relic. Each time tiny balls are created (like from the Maggot or Shotgun evolutions), this passive causes extra balls to spawn. |
| Phantom Regalia | Ethereal Cloak + Ghostly Corset | Massively changes your offense. Your balls now pass through enemies until they hit the back wall. As a bonus, balls deal 50% more damage when they pass through an enemy. |
| Wings of the Anointed | Fleet Feet + Radiant Feather | Provides a significant boost to speed: your balls move 40% faster and you move 20% faster. Crucially, you are no longer affected by environmental hazards. |
| Tormentor’s Mask | Crown of Thorns + Spiked Collar | Punishes aggressive foes. Enemies now have a chance of dying immediately when they first move into your melee range. |
| Odiferous Shell | Breastplate + Wretched Onion | An amazing defensive tool. When you touch enemies (by walking into them), they have a 50% chance of dying immediately. |
| Gracious Impaler | Deadeye’s Amulet + Reacher’s Spear | Makes your crits truly deadly. Your critical hits now have a 5% chance to instantly kill enemies. |
| Deadeye’s Cross | Diamond Hilted Dagger + Emerald Hilted Dagger + Ruby Hilted Dagger + Sapphire Hilted Dagger | The ultimate offensive weapon. Requires all four different crit knives but grants a powerful extra crit chance. |
Mastering these passive combinations is just as important as evolving your attack balls. Prioritize finding the right items in the shop to complete these recipes, as they can be the difference between victory and defeat in the later stages of the pit.

Ball x Pit Evolutions Tier List
While the “best” evolution often depends on your build and the situation, some consistently outperform others. Here is our tier list for the most powerful and effective evolutions in Ball x Pit to help you prioritize your builds.
S-Tier
These evolutions can single-handedly carry a run with their overwhelming power and utility.
- Holy Laser (Laser Horizontal + Laser Vertical): Unmatched screen clear potential. It deals significant damage to every enemy in its row AND column, often wiping the board in a single shot.
- Black Hole (Multi Evo: Sun + Dark): This is the ultimate delete button for high priority targets. It instantly kills the first non boss enemy it touches. This allows you to remove a powerful, high health elite from the field immediately, which can save your run.
- Hemorrhage (Bleed + Iron): The certified boss killer. Its ability to consume bleed stacks to deal 20% of an enemy’s current health makes it invaluable for melting high health elites and final bosses.
A-Tier
These are consistently strong choices that fit into almost any build and will dramatically increase your power.
- Nuclear Bomb (Multi Evo: Bomb + Poison): A massive upgrade to the Bomb, dealing 300-500 initial AoE damage. Its true power, however, is the Radiation debuff it applies to all enemies, causing them to take 10% increased damage per stack (max 5), melting waves and bosses alike
- Wraith (Freeze + Ghost): The best control ability in the game. Freezing every single enemy it passes through allows you to completely lock down entire lanes, giving you critical breathing room.
- Bomb (Burn + Iron): Your go to for explosive Area of Effect (AoE) damage. It’s perfect for instantly clearing dense groups of enemies before they become a threat.
B-Tier
These evolutions are highly effective in the right circumstances and can be the cornerstone of specific builds.
- Vampire Lord (Bleed/Dark + Vampire): Provides incredible sustain and healing. In longer fights or against bosses, the ability to heal by consuming bleed stacks can make you nearly invincible.
- Leech (Bleed + Brood Mother): Excellent and reliable single target damage over time. It’s fantastic for attaching to a tough elite or boss and letting it melt away while you focus on other threats.
- Blizzard (Freeze + Wind/Lightning): A great panic button. When you’re feeling overwhelmed, its ability to freeze all nearby enemies can save your run by giving you a moment to reposition and recover.
Ball x PIT Fusion
Don’t stop at just one evolution. The true key to mastering Ball x Pit is Fusion, which allows you to combine two already evolved balls. While this doesn’t create a new named evolution, it merges their effects.
A devastating example seen in top level play is the Holy Laser x Maggot fusion. The Maggot evolution spawns 1-2 new baby balls when an infested enemy dies. When fused, these new baby balls inherit the Holy Laser effect, causing them to fire their own row and column lasers. This can fill the entire screen with lasers, creating an unstoppable force.
Special Multi Evolutions Ball x Pit List
Looking to hunt down those last few trophies? Some of the rarest achievements are tied to multi evolutions, which require you to combine balls that are already evolved. These are the ultimate Ball x Pit evolutions.
- How to Get Nuclear Bomb: First, create a Bomb (Burn + Iron). Then, combine that Bomb with a Poison ball.
Effect: Creates a massive explosion dealing 300-500 damage. It also applies 1 stack of Radiation to all enemies indefinitely (max 5). Each stack causes enemies to receive 10% more damage from all sources. Has a 3 second cooldown. - How to Get Black Hole: Create a Sun (Burn + Light) and then fuse it with a Dark ball.
Effect: This ball instantly kills the first non boss enemy it hits. After the kill, the ball destroys itself and has a 7-second cooldown. - How to Get Satan: This one is tricky. You need to create both an Incubus (Charm + Dark) and a Succubus (Charm + Vampire), then combine them together.
Effect: Applies 1 stack of burn per second to all enemies on screen (max 5), dealing 10-20 damage per stack. It also causes all enemies to go Berserk, making them attack each other for 15-24 damage. - How to Get the Ball x Pit Nosferatu Evolution: The final challenge. You must combine three already evolved balls: Vampire Lord (Vampire + Bleed or Dark), Mosquito King (Brood Mother + Vampire), and Spider Queen (Brood Mother + Egg Sack).
Effect: Spawns a vampire bat with each bounce. The bat flies toward a random enemy, hits for 132-176 damage, and then turns into a Vampire Lord ball.
Now you have all the recipes you need to master the Ball x Pit evolutions. Get out there, start combining, and show that pit who’s boss!
